Mindfulness for ADHD
Mindfulness practices are powerful tools for everyone. They increase our self-awareness, decrease anxiety and stress, improve disruptive sleep patterns, and help us connect to our senses and physical bodies. Meditation can also increase dopamine, help with impulse control, and soothe nervous system dysregulation which are all extremely helpful for folks with ADHD. When big emotions arise, as the founder of Mindfulness-Based-Stress-Reduction Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn says, “You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.” And developing our attention on the present moment and letting go of judgment are the tools that help us achieve this. Morningtide Wellness offers both guided group and individual meditations and other mindfulness practices tailored to ADHDers.
